After seeing this video we really hope Audi works on showing the quattro power of the Audi R8. This driver lost control of his Audi R8 in the Moscow rain and ended up crashing into the freeway wall. Everything was caught on tape from a street camera.

Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

That really hurts my feelings to see the R8 crash into a wall like that... That really sucks!

Just proves one thing. Just because you have money, doesn't mean you know how to drive !!!

    Isn't that the truth...

what possible conclusions can ANYONE make here!! People are so quick to judge.

We don't know if he was avoiding a car or a pedestrian, if he was on his/her cell phone, if he punctured a tire, if someone hit him, if the roads were icy, if his/her tires were worn, etc, etc, etc.

I cannot make ANY judgement based on this video alone. This is a stupid article if you expect people to judge based on this video alone.

u mean this car hasent ABS , ESP and EBD that squeezis like this on a wet road?!!

Doesn't the R8 have AWD? Anyway it's really painful to see such cars getting crashed or totaled.
  • lmao
First off, all wheel drive doesn't mean you can drive without caution. Second, from the beginning of the video..we can see that the guy was probably attempting to drift, since his steering angle is way too much for that bend. His speed was a lot faster than the others.

Let's just say it was an unfortunate case where the guy cannot drive responsibly. Maybe he should have taken some driving lessons offered by Audi before driving recklessly.

I blame the driver and not for car for this sad ending of the R8.

...you're kidding me, right? he idiot obviously did't know how to drive the car. 4wd is good, yes, but in a situation where all 4 wheels break loose, especialy in the rain, you'll have one hell of a time regaining grip. plus, the fool was going much to fast for conditions. look at the opposing traffic's speed, before he swerves on-cam. while moving along at a good clip, they were not going at speeds near the speed of the audi. if the person had had sense, they A) would not have been going that fast, and B) might have been able to recover, or atleast save the car more.

    the stupidity of some people.

Anyone else notice that the brake lights weren't on and the car didn't slow much at all in 2+ seconds of sliding? Maybe the fool had a seizure, heart attack, stroke, etc.

There isn't that much rain (note splash from other cars) to easily cause hydroplaning unless he was on race slicks.

This thread is useless without more info.
  • Wrinkledpants
Did you see him loose control? So you're positive nobody cut him off? He wasn't swerving to miss somebody else? This video doesn't show anything about how the accident started.

    LOL at pumping your breaks.

I've raced the R8 on the track in the rain. It's solid. That guy's an idiot.

As a side note, in the winter (much like in heavy rain) with traction control disabled, you can easily get the car into those situations.
  • limey156
pump your brakes? thats horrible advice. im sure the R8 has ABS, as almost all cars do know.
  • Sixthgear
    You're spot-on with that comment.
  • Justin6477
Looked to me like someone was going a little too fast in the rain. AWD helps traction, but that doesn't mean you can't hydroplane if you drive with a lead foot.
  • PolePosition
I think you don't take a video out of context and comment on it. Didn't some stupid thing like this black list Audi about a decade back? There is no point to this video, other than it was bad conditions and the situation caused an accident, whatever ALL the dynamics of that situation were.
  • Sixthgear
I'm in complete agreement. And every Quattro owner knows that Quattro is a distinct advantage, but cannot perform miracles - especially against the laws of physics.

The more I think about it, the more that looks like a panicked amateur with a car beyond his skill level. Counter steering and applying the gas *may* have saved him, we'll never know.

One final note, Quattro has nothing to do with braking. ;)
