Seems like Mercedes-Benz is getting in bed with everyone. Following the Romeo and Juliet program with Aston Martin recently revealed today, BMW’s development chief Klaus Draeger has told a German magazine that a deal has been reached with Daimler AG to pool their purchase of a few car parts.
Draeger told Auto Motor und Sport that both sides have confirmed they are boosting their purchasing power for common parts that won’t be critical to the brand’s image.
“The use of economies of scale is successively being implemented. We do not need to wait for a model change or official announcements,” he told Auto Motor und Sport.
A BMW spokesman is denying the reports saying that the two companies are still in the talking phase. It’s been previously reported that both automakers were to decide on cooperation by Nov.
