Nissan announced today that it will cut production at two of its plants in Japan due to the sluggish sales it’s facing in North America. Spokeswoman Ikue Matsuura said that the brand will cut output of some of its Infiniti models and the Nissan Murano and Rogue SUVs.
The cuts will take place from November through March of next year. Nissan faced a 37 percent drop in sales in the first nine months of 2008 as demand slows due to American consumers holding back on large purchases as the financial crisis deepens.
The base 2009 Nissan Murano starts at $29,250. Prior to the “˜interim pricing adjustment,” the Nissan Murano S started at $28,675. The 2008 Nissan Rogue starts at $19,250 for the S trim with 2WD and $20,450 for the S AWD.
We’re wondering if this pushes back plans to build a Nissan Murano Convertible.
