We already know that the Chevrolet Beat won’t be coming to the U.S. However, Ed Pepper, Chevrolet”s Vice President, said that a version of the Groove or Trax would arrive in the U.S. by 2011.

Seems like plans have changed once again. GM’s COO Fritz Henderson told Automotive News today that GM is ruling out a mini GM car for the U.S. for now. He said that while the Smart ForTow has been received well by customers he sees the majority of U.S. consumers sticking to compact cars that are the size of the Chevrolet Volt or Chevrolet Aveo. Someone tell Henderson how well the Honda Fit has done in the U.S.

If you feel like we deserve the Chevrolet Beat, Trax or Groove, have your voice heard in the comments section below.

    Fritz is right.

The market for micro cars is limited and there are strong contenders already in that segment.

What the vast majority of Americans want is the same size car they have now, but with better fuel ecomomy. Bringing the wrong cars to the US only clogs dealer lots with cars that they won't be able to sell.
