BMW is starting to feel the heat of the global economic melt down (or whatever you want to call it). The German automaker said yesterday that its worldwide sales fell nearly 15 percent last month as the global economic crisis hurt North American and European spending.

BMW sold a total of 121,621 units last month, down from 141,357 during the same period a year ago.

On a side note, BMW will be stopping production at its Leipzig plant for a week later this month. The close will backup production by 2,800 cars as global demand decreases. Leipzig produces both 1 and 3-Series models.
