The Lexus LS 600h L just got two new German rivals – the 2010 Mercedes-Benz S400 BlueHYBRID and the new BMW 7-Series ActiveHybrid. Both models will arrive on the market in fall ‘09 to compete in the large-luxury hybrid sedan segment.

BMW is still showing its 7-Series ActiveHybrid as concept, so there may be some kinks to work out there still. Nonetheless, we hear the fuel-consumption and emissions will be reduced by 15 percent compared to the standard V8 gasoline model. Power for the BMW 7-Series ActiveHybrid comes from a gasoline V8 and an electric motor that produces an additional 20-hp and 155 lb-ft of torque.

BMW will also bring another hybrid model to the market in summer 2009 with the X6 ActiveHybrid, which it is also displaying at Paris.
