Toyota iQ gets rear window airbag

Toyota will be introducing the world’s first-ever rear window airbag on its new iQ minicar due out next year. We’re guessing Toyota wants to show hesitant customers that a minicar can be safe by adding extra protection for rear passenger.

The new airbag provides protection to the rear passenger’s head and is stored in the headliner above the rear window. If there is a high-impact collision the bag unfolds rapidly to create a barrier behind the rear passenger.

Not a bad idea for a minicar that can get hit by cars the size of the Ford F-150 or large SUVs. We think Smart should follow the same

I don't get it. Why is this a worlds first? Most luxury cars nowadays have window-bags at the rear...

The rear window means, behind, not the side windows, the rear visibility window.

I like the front end of this car, I hope toyota make larger cars which has a similar look.
