When GM released the very first details on the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 it made it a point to emphasize that you get outstanding performance at an outstanding price. Head over to Chevrolet.com and you’ll be surprised that you can get a 638-hp Corvette that does 0 to 60 in 3.5 secs with a starting price tag of $103,300.

Well the British aren’t that lucky. GM has just dropped the Corvette ZR1 pricing in UK and the 206-mph supercar will start at an eye-watering £109,000, that’s right under $200,000 ($199,987 to be exact) in current exchange rates.

That’s big-time supercar pricing territory. Wondering how many people have put their names down to get one in their driveway? For 2008, Corvette dealers in the UK are only getting 2 ZR1 units for 2008 and 20 for 2009.

Nope, it's less then twice the $105k [base price] that we Americans would pay for a ZR1. And almost all cars in UK cost almost twice as much, so the price isn't out of line. A Golf GTI costs $40k there, while it costs $22k here. And with the EXTREMELY low volume they're selling the car in over there, that's a bargain for them, they'll sell every single one before it's off-loaded from the boat.

Let's also not forget the very first ZR1 sold at auction for $1 Million dollars here in the US.

Oh, and by the way, that is MORE THEN THREE TIMES the $62,652.88 Americans currently pay...

Wow, only $200K in the UK for a ZR1?! That's cheap!
In The Netherlands we pay $200K (136K Euro) for a Z06....
