With the elections close to a month away, NEWSWEEK took a look into the candidates’ cars. Based on public vehicle-registration records, John McCain and Cindy McCain together own 13 vehicles and Barack and Michelle Obama together own one.

So what’s in McCain’s garage? According to NEWSWEEK, McCain’s daughter owns Toyota Prius, which he claims that he bought for her. His personal ride is a 2004 Cadillac CTS. Other cars in garage include a 2005 Volkswagen convertible, a 2001 Honda sedan, a 2007 Ford F-150, a 1960 Willys Jeep, a 2008 Jeep Wrangler, a 2000 Lincoln, a 2001 GMC SUV and three 200 NEV GEM electric-cars. 11 out of the 12 vehicles are owned registered under Cindy McCain’s name.

Obama and Michelle sold their HEMI powered Chrysler 300C in return for a Ford Escape Hybrid SUV last year – just in time for elections.

What the crap does it matter how many cars they have? Last time I checked, McCain only had one ass, and therefore can only drive one car at a time. What does hauling 12 cars to the dump prove? Or maybe sell them so that they can all be driven at the same time. The article even says Obama got rid of there Hemi and bought a hybrid “just in time for the Electrion.” You know he wouldn't have sold it otherwise!

What Obama did is called pandering to the electorate.

What does he care about cars?

If he becomes president he will never drive himself ever again.

what point are you trying to make with this article. Cindy McCain, as everyone knows, is an avid car fan as well as a very successful busines woman.

Last I checked, this was still a FREE country. Actually, this news only serves to highlight the fact that the McCains have nothing to hide, while the Barack Hussein Obamas obviously have a sense of shame of the car they drive and more so believe that posing with a more fuel efficient car at a convenient time will serve them better during his campaign. A bit hypocritical I think.

While I care tremendously about the environment I also believe in the freedom to live the American dream. If I had Cindy McCains wealth, I would also consider buying sports cars or other recreational vehicles (RV) that are not fuel efficient. Does that make me unethical, immoral, or unqualified? I don't think so. If you believe that a majority of Americans are willing to drive Priuses down the road and thus a candidate should too, then you are obviously mistaken or misguided.

I'll take McCain honesty over B. Hussein Obama's hypocracy anyday of the week.

Every car guy should be against this liberal article.

    EDIT

…”Every guy should be against this liberal article”

With all fairness to the article, it does point out how Obama sold his Hemi for a hybrid just in time for elections.

I dont like to judge the candidates based on non issue issues but this makes me think Obama is the bigger puppet of the two candidates. It seems like Oboma has had to “change” who he was before the elections in order to appeal to the masses. Thats a trust breaker

What I think is more illuminating about this “political issue” (what B.S.) is that the folks that raised this to the press and the Obama campaign was the United Auto Workers' reps. Think about that for a few seconds… here are the folks that supposedly want all of us to buy “American” and they have the arrogance to criticize one of our Presidential candidates for exercising his freedom to buy whatever vehicle he wants. Are they trying to point out that he and his wife are elitist rich bastards for buying so many cars? No, that can't be the case. They own more USDM branded cars, then boutique and foreign owned cars. You don't want to piss off the wealthy and push them into the receptive arms of the non-domestics. So it must be that they simply hate him as a republican and conservative who has openly dis-agreed with the 25Billion loan to the domestic brands. And people wonder why Bush Jr. was so “cold” to the U.S. auto leaders for the first 6 years of his constipat… oh I meant administration.

I don't care what the candidates drive. I wish I had a couple of McCain's 13 cars. Just interesting to note, before he was the democratic nominee, Obama drove a Chrysler 300C.
