According to the pickup crazy guys at PickupTrucks.com, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has announced that it will display a concept version of Volkswagen’s upcoming pickup at the 62nd IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hanover next week.
The concept version is expected to be very close to the final production model which is rumored to be badged the Robust or Taro II. The Volkswagen pickup will be offered in a single-cab and double-cab version with four-wheel-drive and a cheaper 2wd option. Expect a range of common-rail diesel and V6 petrol engines.
The mid-size pickup will see production at V-Dub’s Argentina plant in late 2009. No word on whether Volkswagen will sell the pickup in the U.S. but we wouldn’t bet on it anytime soon due to the poor performance of the segment.
