No boring Volt tax credit or other hybrid technology news here. Today we finally get to see the Volt in action running around on the streets in real life. GM has just forwarded over a video of the new Chevy plug-in hybrid in action.

In other Volt news, Vice Chairman Bob Lutz is defending the design of the production Volt over at GM’s FastLane Blog.

“The vehicle’s design has come under some criticism, most of it, to me, unwarranted,” said Lutz. ”The challenge to the designers wasn’t to design the most beautiful car imaginable and accept the compromises you have to make to do so. It was, make no compromise to fuel efficiency and electric range, and then do the most beautiful design possible, around those aerodynamic dictates.”

Honestly, we like the production Volt’s look. Let us know what you think and out the Volt in action after the jump.
