Cadillac has already confirmed that it is working on a small sedan that will debut in late 2010 as a 2011 model. The car will be built on GM’s new Alpha rear-wheel-drive architecture.

According to Motor Trend, the Cadillac Alpha small sedan will also spawn a folding hardtop coupe or a conventional coupe and convertible variant.

There is still debate about the engine choices GM will offer with the new small Caddy but insiders say you can definitely expect a 4-cylinder option. Cadillac feels that U.S. customers won’t be satisfied with just a 4-cylinder option so a turbocharged unit is also a possibility along with a V6.
