20% of Mercedes-Benz fleet to be hybrid by 2015

According to sales chief Klaus Mair, every fifth Mercedes-Benz to be built by the year 2015 will have hybrid technology. Mair says that if the legal framework doesn’t see any significant change, 20 percent of Mercedes-Benz fleet will be hybrid.

According to Auto Motor und Sport, Mercedes-Benz plans on introducing a new hybrid model every year starting 2009. Mair says that he expects combustion engine to dominate the market for the next 20 to 30 years. He said electric and hybrid drive trains will be mainly used for smaller cars.
