Don’t go running out to get that heated seat option on you new car just yet. A new research published in the New Scientist magazine found that heated seats can damage a man’s chances of conceiving children. Tests found that heated seats can raise the scrotum temperature above sperm production conditions.

According to the magazine, sperm producing is at its best at 96 degrees Fahrenheit. The study, consisting of 30 men, found that heated seats can raise the mercury of scrotums to about 99 degrees Fahrenheit.

Andreas Jung, lead author on the study, said that even though the increase in the temperature is minimal it may still do enough damage to the sperm production process. However, for enough damage to take place you’ll have to be sitting on a heated seat for a long period of time on a regular basis.

What wasn't mentioned in this article is that the test subjects sat in the heated seats for 90 minutes. So in normal use this probably won't be a issue for any man.
