Gulf Arab investors interested in buying Hummer

Mahindra & Mahindra announced last week that they have no interest in buying the Hummer brand from GM and would much rather pursue their own models for the U.S. market. However, there still may be hope for the gas-guzzling brand in other parts of the world.

Hummer’s Middle East chief, Terry Johnson, told Reuters today that GM has received interest from two separate investors from the Gulf Arab region to purchase Hummer.

“For sure, there has been interest from various parties within the Gulf … there is a precedent in the cases of Aston Martin, Ferrari or Daimler and those kinds of solutions could be very realistic solutions,” said Johnson.

CEO Rick Wagoner said last week that GM is already preparing sales documents and is just waiting to jump into formal talks with an interested buyer.
