Next-Generation Honda Civic inspired by OSM Concept

Posted: August 21, 2008

There was hardly anything new for the 2009 Honda Civic but work is underway on the next-generation Civic and AutoExpress has some new details. The next-generation Honda Civic will take major design cues from the recently seen Open Study Model Concept that made its debut at the London Motor Show.

The hatchback variant will add some new elements as well as carry over some from the current Civic like the single strip lights at the rear. The front fascia, however, will be inspired by the OSM concept.

Sources are saying that Honda will also throw in a 1.5 liter IMA hybrid engine powered by lithium-ion batteries that produces more than 150-hp.

For all you high-performance hatchback lovers, a new Type R is also in the works which will be powered by a 2.0 liter i-VTEC engine that could also get Honda’s new 4-cylinder hybrid electric-motor currently in development.
