OMG, they want to use the Camaro platform? Why? Why god why?

Dont they understand? Luxury car buyers don't want cars based on down-market cars! Thats why Acura suffers in mediocrity. Its why Lexus, for so long, did too.

The Camaro link will immediately link the car to the Pontiac G8, also based on the same platform. And people will just say "well its just a G8 with different trim, why pay more?"

Cadillac should have its own design house, its own platform division. Somehow, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and Lexus all manage to make profits on luxury vehicles which are not based on down market cars. And yes, I realize they do use some parts from lower end cars, but by no means is the whole car the same (like it is with platform engineering).

This will just be another loss for GM. sigh...

Caddy has somewhat better odds than Hyundai for a luxury car---BUT who would pay some exorbitant amount for a V12 Caddy??

They can't sell anything more expensive than an Escalade...the XLR is/was a total sales flop and their resale values tank...
