Even though we want to call it the El-Camino – it will now be officially known as the 2010 Pontiac G8 ST. When the Pontiac G8 ST hits showrooms in late 2009, GM will offer it with a 6.0L V8 that produces 361-hp. According to InsideLine, the G8 ST will also get V6 engine options.

Sources say that due to the rise in gas-prices GM will also offer a 3.6 liter V6 after the initial launch.

However, InsideLine says that the 3.6 liter will not produce 256-hp. It will instead get direct-injection version of the 3.6 that will get a little more than 300-hp.

V8's are going to become "old school" in cars. With engine tech allowing V8 power from 6 and even 4 cylander engines, the V8's will only be found in super cars and trucks
