When the 2009 Jaguar XKR-S made its debut in March 2008, we were pretty disappointed to learn that Jaguar would only produce 200 units – none of which will be sold in the U.S. But why? Why not offer a faster and sexier looking XK in the U.S.?

According to AutoWeek, Jaguar of North America feels that the XKR-S isn’t fast enough for U.S. sports-car buyers. Executives say that it does not make business sense for Jaguar to offer the XKR-S in the U.S. since Mercedes-Benz AMG and Porsche dominate the market with amazing amounts of power output.

With enhanced and sharp feedback the Jaguar XKR-S is powered by the same 420hp 4.2 liter V8 supercharged engine found in the XKR. But its the aerodynamic changes in the XKR-S that allow for more downforce and stability along with a top speed of 174-mph, 19-mph faster than the XKR.
