Alfa Romeo is planning a successor to the 166 with a new large sedan that will be based on a rear-wheel-drive architecture. The new large sedan will become the flagship model of the Alfa Romeo lineup and will follow the naming model policy instead of numbering models.
Now that Fiat has a pretty strong relationship with Tata Motors, Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne is thinking of use he Jaguar XF chassis for the new Alfa sedan. Of course design language will follow the theme of the new 8C Competizione.
According to AutoCar, the Jaguar / Fiat relationship could get stronger. Jaguar’s aluminium rear-wheel-drive platform could also underpin future versions of the Maserati Quattroporte and GranTurismo models.
