Volkswagen Golf Convertible coming in 2010

The 2009 Volkswagen Golf – otherwise known as the Rabbit on the stateside – will make its market debut in starting this October. We learned last week that the GTI will arrive in spring 2009. Now Volkswagen is saying that it will launch a convertible version of the six-generation Golf in 2010.

“It is a demanding time frame,” an source told Automotive News Europe. “But the new Golf convertible is aiming for spring business the year after next.”

The Volkswagen Golf Convertible will use the Audi A3 Convertible fabric soft-top roof, but will be lengthened to fit the Golf. Pricing is expected to be between new Beetle convertible and the EOS. Sources say it will be a couple of greens below the base model of the A3 Convertible which starts at 24,950 euros ($37,925 USD).
