Hyundai working on new coupe, next-generation Sonata to take on Ford Mondeo

While we await the arrival of the much anticipated Hyundai Genesis Coupe, the rest of the world will get another Hyundai coupe – a replacement to the current Hyundai Tiburon. The car will be based on the Velostar 2+2 concept and will make its official debut at the 2008 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Insiders say that the front-wheel-drive coupe will be smaller than the upcoming Kia Coupe and the Hyundai Genesis Coupe. The coupe will be launched in 2009.

Hyundai is also working on a the successor to the Sonata, which will now take on the Ford Mondeo and Opel/Vauxhall Insignia. The sedan will arrive around the world in 2010.

The Korean automakers is also said to be working on a minivan based on the HED-5 iMode concept.
