Lexus tops J.D. Power’s Dependability Study… again

Buick has slipped from the no.1 spot it shared with Lexus last year as the most reliable and dependable brand according to J.D. Power and Associates. Lexus has been on the list for the 14th straight year. The luxury Toyota brand had 120 problems per 100 vehicles as compared to 145 from last year.

According to Dave Sargent, J.D. Power Associates vice president of automotive research, the ES and the RX accounted for two-thirds of Lexus sales and improved significantly.

FoMoCo and Mercury came in second followed by Cadillac. The Toyota brand came in fourth followed by Acura at fifth. Land Rover, which now belongs to Tata Motors, was the worst brand with 344 problems.

The industry average was 206 problems per 100 vehicles compared to 216 a year ago.
