So you’re all pretty disappointed that GM has decided not to offer the upcoming Chevrolet Beat in the U.S . Well worry not – along with the Chevrolet Cruze , due out in 2010, GM will replace the Aveo with a new subcompact based on the Groove or Trax minicars that were unveiled at the 2007 New York Auto Show .

According to Ed Pepper, Chevrolet’s Vice President, a version of the Groove or Trax will arrive in the U.S. by 2011. "Of the triplets, we will get one of those variants," Peper told Automotive News . Which one? "I don’t want to say at this point."

Peper said that the car will be very similar to one of those concepts but will be a little bit larger to meet U.S. crash test standards. The front fender and grille will likely be extended to meet safety standards.

We’re putting our money on the Trax since GM will be marketing it in the upcoming Transformers: Rise of the Fallen .

I think if they sell the Trax here I am moving to a country with the Beat. That thing is ugly. I would imagine the American public would much prefer the styling of the Groove.

Trax is a great looking car, not as cool as the beat but what can you do!!!

The trax would be a great decision for GM (long time since anyone has said that!!) and would kick the ass of the RAV-4, Element and others!!!

    Dear GM,

Please offer a small car in your lineup that does not look like a mini-SUV or a HHR on steroids.

    Sincerely,
    The Public

I agree, it is not as if Chrysler is basking in glory of the Caliber. I am pretty sure the noxious Neon sold better.

is this supposed to be GM's answer to the scions and honda fits?

2011? Great! If this is the fastest GM can get a competitive small car to market, it will be long gone by then.
