Volkswagen announced today that customers looking to purchase the new Jetta TDI sedan and SportWagen are eligible for a $1,300 Federal Income Tax Credit. The new Jetta TDI lineup qualifies for the Advanced Lean Burn Technology Motor Vehicle income tax credit.
EPA estimates that the Volkswagen Jetta TDI returns a fuel-economy of 29/40mpg (city/highway). Volkswagen also hired a third-part certifier, AMCI, that says the Jetta TDI performs 24 percent in real-world conditions with 38/44mpg.
Pricing for the 2009 Jetta TDI starts at $22,640. V-dub is planning on selling 15,000 units in its first year followed by 30,000 units the following year.
