GM: Don’t forget about the Saturn Vue plug-in hybrid

Worrying that people may forget about the Saturn Vue plug-in hybrid due to all the excitement surrounding the Chevrolet Volt, GM’s FastLane blog gave us an updated on the progress GM is making on the Vue plug-in hybrid. Larry Nitz, Executive Director, Hybrid Powertrain Engineering, said that the company is currently testing 11 units at the GM proving grounds in Michigan and Arizona

Nitz said that originally GM started testing the Vue plug-in hybrid with nickel-metal hydride battery technology but has now switched to lithium-ion batteries.

“We”ve done extensive battery thermal management work in the lab and on the road, and plug-in charge integration is fully operational and undergoing refinement,” said Nitz.

The Saturn Vue plug-in is expected to hit the market in late 2010, around the same time as the Chevrolet Volt.

Okay we won’t forget GM. But don’t you forget about your promise of offering a hybrid every 4 months .
