Mexican manufactured VWs have had crazy amount of electrical issues. I am with you on this one...my wife's '03 turbo beetle is driving me insane.

Currently the brake light switch is acting funky, which in turn makes the turn signal go nuts when you hit it.

Oh yeah, it also doesn't let you shift out of park sometimes, either.

I hope management at VW has taken care of the quality control issues that have plagued their products for years. My 1994 Jetta sat in the driveway for a year because no one could repair the transmission and the electrical system problems. Eventually, I sold it to a junkyard for pennies on the dollar. Most Americans are turned off by transmissions that don't shift, power windows that don't work, and sunroofs that don't close. Oh, I should also mention the VW dealer that installed my brake pads backwards. If VW cannot match the quality of Honda, the new factory in Tennessee will go the way of the previous VW factory in Pennsylvania. Good luck. I personally would walk before I purchased another VW.
