Mercedes-Benz and BMW are planning on making a final decision on the details of their cooperation by the end of November 2008. According to Auto Motor und Sport , both companies are looking to make an announcement by the LA Auto Show in November.

Earlier in April, BMW CEO Reithofer was very vocal about his willingness to team up with rival Mercedes-Benz . Reithofer said that he feels both, Mercedes-Benz and BMW, should team up to fight the effects of a weak dollar. At the time Mercedes-Benz response to Reithofer’s statement was: "We are not commenting on Mr. Reithofer’s statements."

According to sources, both companies have agreed to jointly develop components such as air conditioning units and brakes for future cars. Both have previously been reported to discuss small-car development as well.
