I understand what you are saying. Up the MPGs on your worst vehicle and you can meet the new standards passed by simian Bush.

I'm not against hybrids...saving fuel is fantastic. There are downsides, however, as I'm sure you've seen from some of my previous rants.

However, developing a hybrid powertrain for a big ass V8 like this that will not sell very well is exactly why GM has to make all these cutbacks and close all these plants. They are just pissing money away.

Like I said, the people that will buy this will have bought an Escalade for status...the hybrid thing just adds to that status symbol.

The problem here is that Escalade is the worst vehicle in Cadillac's line up to try and protray a "green" image. I am glad that sales of Hybrids SUV are improving, but I don't see the Escalade Hybrid atracting new buyers, and not even holding on to the ones that are already there.

GM seems to only want to mate the hybrid to the 6.0L V-8. The Enclave would have been a better starting point but now developement of the hybrid transmission to FWD will take time.

Think of Buick's target demographic. Do you think your grandma would want a car with all those what-cha-ma-whooz-its and that big ol' TV that isn't a TV in the center console?

The Escalade has always been a 'status' vehicle. Making it a hybrid just adds to that stigma.

So why not do this in the Enclave? It seats 8 and has a much better MPG base to start with.
