While 9ff Fahrzeugtechnik GmbH thinks their GT9 is the fastest car in the world , the rest of the world knows that Guinness World Records officially recognizes the 2008 SSC Ultimate Aero as the fastest road-legal car in the world.  Powered by a 1183-hp engine with a peak torque of 1094 lb-ft, the SSC Ultimate Aero does 0-60 in 2.8 seconds with a top speed of 257mph.
