FoMoCo’s plans to build a large rear-wheel-drive model for the Ford and Lincoln brands is looking a bit iffy with gas prices topping $4 per gallon. In January , Ford’s product chief Derrick Kuzak and CEO Alan Mullaly confirmed that planning for both models is in existence.
Based on the Ford Interceptor and the Lincoln MKR concepts, the models are expected to make their debut for the 2013 model year. Kuzak, speaking with Automotive News, said that Ford is now reconsidering the program.
Kuzak said that development is still underway, although the future depends on consumer behavior and the direction of the automotive industry as a whole.
