Yesterday, GM released the video of the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1′s 7:26.4 Nurburgring lap that beat the Nissan GT-R’s 7:29 run . Forums and enthusiasts have been going crazy over these two times while Matt Farah’s sources say the automakers cheated using racing fuel and other modifications – there is also a debate over the actual start time of both vehicles.

Our friends at Garage419 make an attempt to settle the controversy with their side by side comparison of both the videos released by GM and Nissan. Both start a time at different points on the track. To compare the laps, Garage419 used the pit-exit sign as a visual benchmark.
