After all the spy shots and teasers , Mercedes-Benz has finally released the much-anticipated 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series. And now that Mercedes will be ending its relationship with McLaren , and therefore the production of the SLR, the new SL 65 AMG Black Series will be the king of high-performing models from the Stuttgart automaker – well until the SLC arrives.

Based on the 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG and its 6.0L twin-turbo V12, engineers were able to extract a total of 661-hp (57-hp more than the SL 65 AMG) with a peak torque of 738 lb-ft - enough to throw on the Black Series badge. The engine is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission with the ability to shift in as little as 250 milliseconds. 0-60 comes in at 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 199mph.

The 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series will make its debut at the Paris Motor Show in October and will arrive in the U.S. in early 2009 with pricing starting above $300,000.

The looks are mean I think better than the SLR , I just wonder who would choose this rather than the beautiful less than half price R8? I guess rich people will buy it...

If this isn't over the top boy racer design I don't know what would qualify. I thought that the old 6.5 was more stealthy. The new one screams look at me and seem out of place for an SL.

i think this car looks really good. I like the all out sporty look with the big flares and wing in the back. BUT the $300,000 price tag is a huge dealbreaker, id rather get a GTR, ZR1, and a couple STI's and EVO's for that price

I guess the next thing is to see how fast it laps the nurburgring right? I don't know what is more ridiculous, the styling or the cost. $300,000 seems way too much for a car that can't break 200 mph, a 5 speed gearbox, and what to looks to not be carbon ceramic brakes.
