Spy Shots: Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Speedster spotted

So yesterday we told you that Mercedes-Benz and McLaren will produce a limited-edition SLR McLaren before the series ends production next year. Well, these spy shots prove that it will indeed be a speedster SLR McLaren and its giving us all kinds of goosebumps.

No new information is available on the car as of yet but so far we know that it will do 0-180mph in 25 seconds with a top speed of 218mph. The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Speedster will have 8mph more than the 722 special-edition and will be 200kg lighter than the standard SLR. To save weight Mercedes-Benz will be dropping the air-conditioning and media system and will use more carbon fiber in the body.

The new Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren variant will make its debut at the Detroit Motor Show in January. It will only see a 75 unit production run.
