First look at the 2009 Ford Focus RS

After months of teaser shots and spy shots of it testing at the Nurburgring, Ford will show the new 2009 Focus RS (seen here) without camouflage for the first time at the London Motor Show later this month.

Power will come from a 2.5L turbocharged Duratec engine that produces between 275 to 300-hp with a peak torque of 300 lb-ft. Other performance enhancements include chassis upgrades and an advanced technology front-wheel-drive system with a limited-slip differential.

From these pictures you can see that the new 2009 Ford Focus will get a very aggressive body kit with a roof spoiler and 19-inch 15-spoke alloy wheels. Join us later this month when Ford released the official details on July 22nd.

300 hp 300 ft-lbs and front wheel drive... Ford is way behind the times... The mazdaspeed 3 has to hold back torque in first and second gear electronically so you can actually put the power to the ground and not smoke your tires... not smart to base a performance car off of that...

Toyota, subaru, Nissan and Acura are all developing rear wheel drive small cars, to bring back the spirit of the old 240sx.. small car, rear wheel drive, and an engine that could be worked on... That is the reasin you can barely find a used 240 now.. it was a hit... too bad it too them a generation to start building them again..

once again FORD has spent money developing a car that won't beat the new cobalt (that is who they should be aiming at with performance small front wheel drive, if you don't beleive me it's the fastest FWD car to lap the nurburgrin.. not the baby mazda-speed) The design is on with this car.. the platform is way to dated to sell volume.

So this is the Ford version of the Mazdaspeed 3. I wonder if it will be available in traffic cone orange as well.

Nice looking car even with the frorescent green. lol . Any word on price? The front wheel drive might be a turn off to some unless the price is right (lower than sti's and evo's?)

Front wheel drive is great for snow performance. I really like the front wheel drive.
    I have a Ford focus 2001.

and i go right around trucks, i laugh as i see them slipping and crashing into tree's, and struggling to go up hills.

I have a couple mods for my ford tho. :)
