Video: 2009 Kia Borrego test drive

Coming to the market at a time were gas-prices are at an all time high, Kia is hoping to boost its image with its new 7-Seater SUV – the 2009 Kia Borrego. Pricing for the 2009 Kia Borrego is expected to start around $26,000 for the entry level V6 model and around $40,000 for the range-topping V8.

The base Kia Borrego LX is powered by a 3.8L V6 that produces 276-hp with a peak torque of 267 lb-ft. It returns a fuel-economy of 17/21mpg (city/highway) for the rear-wheel-drive and 16/21mpg for the all-wheel-drive. The 2009 Kia Borrego EX is powered by a 4.6L V8 DOHC engine borrowed from the Genesis and produces 337-hp and 323 lb-ft of torque. EPA has yet to release fuel-economy figures for the V8.

Kia says it will offer a V6 diesel engine in the Borrego later in 2010. The engine produces 247-hp and 398 lb-ft of torque.
