Jamie Frank Martin has come up with a design concept of what the successor to the 1960’s AC/Shelby Cobra could look like. The original Cobra, an instant classic, was based on the Ace roadster by British sports car company AC. Looking for a competitor to the Chevrolet Corvette, Carroll Shelby asked AC to modify the Ace to fit a small block V8 engine.
This new Cobra Venom V8 Roadster concept is said to be the ’spiritual successor’ to the iconic AC/Shelby Cobra and will carry Ford’s new 4.6L supercharged V8 that will produce 524 horsepower with a peak torque of 420 lb-ft. 0-60 is expected to come in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 214mph.
The Cobra Venom V8 Roadster is said to be built on a lightweight aluminum chassis with carbon-fiber body panels. It rides on 17-inch gun-metal cast aluminum wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero “snake tread” tires. Options include a DVD satellite navigation system, HID headlamps with LED front and rear lights.
