According to India’s Economic Times, Tata Motors and Chrysler’s Global Electric Motorcars (GEM) are working on an electric-powered version of the Tata Ace delivery vehicle with firm plans to sell it in the U.S. Pricing is expected to be around $5,000.

The two companies have reportedly signed a contract earlier this year to develop the car sources told the Indian newspaper. Volume is likely to be low with branding and pricing yet to be officially finalized.

The Tata Ace will continue production in India and will then be shipped over to the U.S. to be fitted by Chrysler’s GEM. Tata and Chrysler will market the vehicle to metropolitan areas like California and New York and other areas with strict emission standards.

I don't see the price staying at $5000, no matter how crappy they make it.
