But will they be cheaper? Only time will tell. CAR was recently invited out to have a sit down with Walter de Silva, head of Volkswagen design, and while it may have been pretty boring, de Silva did let us know where the future of Volkswagen and Lamborghini design is headed.
Volkswagen’s will be simpler with an emphasize on grilles and rear-end treatments. Cool. Now what about Lamborghini? According to de Silva, Lamborghini’s will get more provocative, extreme and will embody more sharp edges and angular surfaces. Lamborghini’s design boss summed it up and said design will be strongly influenced by the recent Reventon which also influenced the recent Gallardo LP560-4.
Chief Engineer Maurizio Reggiani said that the future of Lamborghini construction will consist of lightweight composite materials that will be cheaper. However, Lamborghini will not drop all-wheel-drive in order to lose weight. Transmission wise, the Italian auto maker will stick to the e-gear transmission since it has plenty of development potential.
We feel it would be safe to say that 0-60 times will be further improved on future Lamborghinis.
