all in all, honda uses the same platform… no? what i'm trying to say is that honda creates so many different models (including overseas markets) and doesnt leave much room to come out with high performance models…

yeah, i really didnt like that dicision on Acura's part, The Legend and Integra were well known names. At least bring back the integra name

You are right about the N. American Accord (sold as the Honda Inspire in Japan) being different than the Japanese/European Accord. The two platforms do however share a great deal, including dashboards.
People also need to remember that the TSX was offered to replace the Integra sedan. It was never meant to move so far up market as to compete with a V-6 Accord. The Diesel comes out in 2009, the V-6 will never happen anytime soon, especially with a new TL coming out in 2009.

Rumors are the TSX is getting the turbo-diesel & possibly a v6.

The new TL is supposed to get a 270hp & 310hp engine so there is room for the TSX to get more than just the 201hp i4.

The American Accord and the TSX are not the came car. The TSX is based off the Japanese Accord. The Japanese Accord's platform is not based off the American Accord's platform. The TSX is also built in the Sayama, Japan plant. The American Accord and the TL are both built in Honda's Ohio plant.

The Japanese Accord also does not have a V6. Im sure they could fit a V6 in there but as stated before a 4 cylinder was probably chosen to prevent it from hurting the TL's sales.

For the most part the TSX is a Japanese Accord with some feature upgrades/changes.

Ironically Acura went to Alpha-numeric nomenclature to “fit in” with the others; Lexus, Inifiniti, BMW, Audi, M-B, Saab, Volvo, et al.

this is true. maybe they should have kept the “names” instead of switching to letters and then acura may be in a “sub-luxury class” of its own and introduce a new luxury brand with the new nsx as the halo car and build reputable cars around that V10.

The RL's trouble began with the name change from Legend years ago. Honda wants to play with the big boys like Lexus, BMW, and M-B; but has refused to up the ante. Honda has refused to build a V-8 or move the RL to RWD (the SH-AWD is trick, but not what the market wants from this car.) Honda is a small engine manufacture and as a result makes the best 4 cylinder engines in the world. V-6's were big news for Honda when they 1st came about in 1986, but even then they generally build small V-6's only recently moving upto an enormous 3.7 liter. The fact is Honda just does not come from the heavy industial backgroud like Toyota, Nissan, and M-B. The V-10 for the next NSX will probably be a tamer street version of the F1 engine Honda motorsports with. It will be an exception.

understandable…. well not really. could it be that the TL is hurting sales of the RL because they both have V6s? i'm not sure but isnt the current TL type S around 270-280hp and the RL at 300hp. not to knock on them but having the RL with a V6 is probably what is preventing sales of the vehicle. then again having (maybe) a TSX Type S with a 6 speed V6, TL Type S in V8 and RL Type S in V10???

The TSX does not have a V-6 so as to not trample on the TL which is also based on the Accord, it is even built in the same plant.

if the accord and tsx are based on the same platform. i do not see why the accord couldnt get this award. matter of fact why the accord gets a v6 and the tsx doesnt still baffles me…
