A day with Porsche at the Barber Motorsports Track in Alabama

Besides getting to test drive the 2008 Porsche Boxster RS 60 Spyder, we also had the privilege to get behind the wheel of the 2008 Boxster, Boxster S, Cayman and Cayman S during our visit to Porsche in Birmingham, Alabama. We hope you enjoyed our review of the Boxster RS 60 Spyder, but now it’s time to drool over some pictures of the other Porsches we beat up.

Having driven all of the above around the track, we have to say that the Cayman S had us sold. If you’re a hardcore driver that hits up the track once in a while, the 295-hp Cayman S is the perfect Porsche for you. Of course if you have the dough or are willing to spend more than $70,000 move up to the 911 range.

Other than that, we would say the base Cayman is our pick for everyday driving pleasure. With 245-hp and a 0-60mph time of 5.8 seconds, the Cayman offers a perfect balance of everyday cruising while feeding the need for speed when you’re hungry for some excitement on your way back from work.

2008 Porsche Cayman ($49,400): 2.7L 6-cylinder producing 245-hp and 201 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 in 5.8 with a top speed of 160mph.

2008 Porsche Boxster ($45,800): 2.7L 6-cylinder producing 245-hp and 201 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 in 5.8 with a top speed of 160mph.
2008 Porsche Boxster S ($55,700): 3.4L 6-cylinder producing 295-hp and 251 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 in 5.1 with a top speed of 169mph.
