According to an interview with Financial Times Deutschland, Thomas Hausch, Chrysler’s vice president of international purchasing, said that the company is working on producing a compact car based on the Hornet concept seen at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show.

“We are working intensely on the Hornet study,” Hausch said. “I think we will announce something on this in the future.”

According to the publication the production Hornet model will be launched in Europe and the U.S. in 2010. Hausch did not say whether the Hornet will be sold under the Chrysler or Dodge badge.

‘But I cannot rule out that there may be a Chrysler that is smaller than our economy model, the 2-liter Sebring,’ Hausch said.
