Killing all speculation that Porsche may produce products in North America, the German automaker said it has no plans to produce any sports car in the U.S.

“We’ve always said Porsche is a product ‘Made in Germany’,” Porsche production boss Michael Macht told reporters. He said that the company sees “no necessity” to begin manufacturing cars at a location outside of its current network.

Macht also said that Porsche has no plans to expand its cooperation with Volkswagen beyond the projects already in development or projects that have already been announced.

Porsche is currently in the process to increase its stake in Volkswagen from 31 percent to over 50 percent.

I thought the first generation Boxsters were built in Austria?

I am a little confused myself. Zuffenhausen could not keep up with Boxster and Cayman production demands, so some of them have been built in Finland. The Cayenne (sp) coach is built in Slovakia and railed to Leipzig for final assembly. I guess it would be splitting of hairs to say all Porsches are built in Germany. So, couldn't Porsche continue this little white lie by building models in Deutschland, while simultaneously building them in the U.S?

I agree with you I am confused as well, Recently i heard that they were seriously considering building cars in the US and now this.
Yes I know as well that not only cayenne but the Q7 and volks suv is body is also built in Slovakia. These days you can't even trust the brnad when they say its built in germany or japan.

Maybe they mean, “built by Germans”.
