Toyota finally showed us the production iQ at this year’s Geneva Motor Show in March and now spies have caught the car in the final stages of testing before it goes on sales in November. Toyota has not yet said anything of the technicals or mechanicals of the car but from what we gather, the iQ will be powered by a 1.8 liter unit developed in partnership with Yamaha.

Don’t expect amazing output; no more than 70-hp we’d say. Toyota plans on selling 100,000 units for the first year.

Yes, we know with gas-prices everyone is like “Wow this is going to be amazing” or “GM and Ford should get started on something like this and call it ‘E=MC2.’” But we’re just not too crazy about it.

Head over to AutoCar to see the full shots.

Wow this is going to be amazing! GM and Ford should get started on something like this and call it ‘E=MC2'!!! That would be awesome.

Anyway, isn't 1.8 liters kind of big for only 70hp.

for sure... im guessing the 1.8 is for the 4cyl model and the 70 hp comes from the 3cyl.

I think the honda civic gets 140 hp out of their 1.8 4cylander. (or is it a 1.5?)

It looks a lot like a smart for two. I'm guessing the 70hp will be the 3 cyl model?
