While big brother GT-R takes on the Porsche 911s and the BMW M3s, little brother 2010 370Z is on its way to take on the Audi TTs, BMW 1-Seires and the Mitsubishi Evos. A sneak peek was recently seen at the Nissan 360 press event.

According to sources of CARandDRIVER (as revealed in the June 2008 issue), the platform of the next-generation Nissan Z will be lighter and wider. Of course we’ve already heard numerous times before that the G37′s 3.7 liter V6, 330-hp will find its way under the hood and the badge will be changed to the 370Z.

What’s new is that the 2010 Nissan 370Z may get a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission from big-brother GT-R.

We’ll find out soon enough when the next-generation Nissan Z makes its debut at the LA Auto Show later this year. Sales are expected to begin early 2009.

How can it share the same trans in the GT-R if the GT-R has a 6speed dual clutch, and you mention here that its 7speed.

alot of the weight from the GT-R is from the dual clutch trans, SO, being a lighter car this time around, the 370z wont have the GT-R trans, because it wouldnt weigh what it does and get away with using such a peice.

If the 370z had a dual clutch it would be custom made for the 370z, a new design or a design based off of the GT-R trans, but not the same. this unit, if true could be from renault or borg warner.

because the 370z has less power than the GT-R, it will likly use a whle differnt design if anything.

I think they mean it is the 7speed that they are putting in the Infiniti FX for '09

Yeah, like someone else said it has to be the 7-Speed automatic from Infiniti. It makes sense since the G37 Coupe has the 7-Speed in it and it is based on the same body as the 350Z (370Z?). Besides the GT-R has a 6-Speed dual clutch transmission (check out any specification page for the GT-R) and it is setup as a rear transaxle. The 350Z (and 370Z) have the transmission place in the “”traditional” spot in the middle of the driveline.

“On it's way to take on the Audi TT”? You sir, are an idiot. Have you not seen the classic 5th Gear episode of the Z against the TT on a track? It destroys the TT and is “more fun to drive” than the “boring” TT.
