Now with Tata on the main scene after their purchase of Jaguar and Land Rover, the Tata Nano will be getting some major exposure. The proposed city car made its debut at the 9th annual Auto Expo on January 10th in New Delhi, India.
Known as “the people’s car” the Nano is 33-hp rear-wheel-drive city car that averages a fuel-economy of 52/61mpg (city/highway). Tata plans on offering the Nano in three different versions including one standard and two deluxe variants; the latter will have air conditioning. Initial production is targeted at 250,000 units per year. Pricing is estimated at Rs. 100,000 or $2,500.
Here is an exclusive video of the Tata Nano testing in India giving us a very close look at how the Nano will look in action. We love how the spies just honk at it until it moves out the way so they can get a better look.
