It seems like Malaysian company Proton has no problems dropping Lotus like a bad habit. Reportedly the company has been having some serious inquires to purchase the British sports car manufacturer.

According to a source that spoke with AutoCar, Proton has no problem getting rid of Lotus. A dozen or so separate investment firms have asked about Lotus’ feature and what Proton plans to do with the brand. Reports say groups with major Middle Eastern backing have offered up-front capital for the British company.

Aston Martin Chairman David Richards teamed up with Kuwaiti firms Investment Dar and Adeem Investment Co when Ford sold the company for $925 million back in March 2007.

Isn't Proton the company that remarkets old retired Mitsubishi plaforms? I had no idea they were so upset with Lotus. Too bad.
