Ford will built only 45,000 retail versions of the 2009 Mustang mainly because it will start preparing for the redesigned 2010 model to hit the roads early next year. This will be the Ford Mustang 45-th anniversary.
We guess Ford expects many Mustang fans to hold out for the 2010 model instead of buying a 2009 Mustang since it will see very little changes compared to the current model. Ford sold 44,160 Mustangs in the first five months of 2008, compared to 64,560 the same period in 2007.
The 2009 Ford Mustang is arriving at dealerships as we type this. The glass roof option that we saw at this year’s Detroit Auto Show will also be available for an extra $1,995. The 2009 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500KR will see a production run of 746, of which 571 units will be sold in the U.S.
