If the sales figures in May are any evidence that consumers are shifting to smaller cars, we are about to see a huge change in buying behavior when it comes to the automotive industry. The Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla both came in on top selling a total of 53,299 and 52,826 respectively. Both, along with the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord, took the number one spot for the top-selling vehicles from the Ford F-Series.

Now if you’re in the market like many other consumers for a small car and are confused about which one to take home, check out this latest consumer comparison test from Edmunds comparing the all new 2009 Toyota Corolla, 2008 Honda Civic and the Mazda3. Each car is priced within a $500 range of each other.

Refresher:

2009 Toyota Corolla: Two engine variants including a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine that produces 132 horsepower and a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine that produces 158 horsepower.

Don't forget there is also a Mazdaspeed3 and a Honda Civic Si. They may be a little overkill but they are still in this price category…………somewhat.

They should have brought the Ford Focus and the Nissan Sentra too.

Interesting, although I counted only about 5 participants. In my opinion, nowhere near enough to gauge what cars people like more.

If you look at the rims on the test cars, they used the bottom of the line corolla, and the top of the line mazda3. maybe the corolla still would have been the least liked, but it seems like they set up the judging to be quite biased before it even started.

They said that all the cars were within $500 of each other and that is not the top of the line 3 thats an i sedan not an s you can tell from the grill and that it doesn't have the 2.3 on the side of the car, don't hate on the Mazda because it's the best car for the money the Corolla is just way to much money.
