According to WirtschaftsWoche, Chrysler and Fiat are reported to be in talks again. The German magazine reported Alfa Romeo boss, Luca De Meo, saying that Fiat and Chrysler are talking about forms of cooperation.
“His comments are his own. They don’t represent Chrysler,” said Chrysler’s spokesman. Kind of feisty don’t you think?
Fiat’s CEO Sergio Marchionne said in March that his company has been talking to Detroit Automakers about producing Alfa Romeos in North America by 2010. Marchionne also said that Fiat could also produce and sell the 500 minicar in the U.S.
Chrysler has openly said that it is willing to share plant capacity with other automakers. It will be producing the Nissan Titan at its Saltillo, Mexico, plant.
